Byron Jadon Bullert
1913–1983
Byron Bullert worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. As a civil engineer, he received numerous awards for his work from the Corps of Engineers. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1968 after thirty years of distinguished service.
During his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Byron worked on two of America's most iconic infrastructure projects: the Hoover Dam and the Grand Coulee Dam.
After retiring in 1968, Byron continued to contribute his expertise internationally. He served as a consultant on the Salto Grande Dam in Uruguay and as chief concrete engineer on Pakistan's Tarbela Dam — considered to be the world's largest earth and rock-filled man-made dam.
